Our friends, Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet have joined forces to create new musical sensation, Whitehorse.

They played a fantastic show at Toronto’s very own Winter Garden Theatre on February 24th and are now off to play a tour of the U.S.A. Individually they are two of our countries most acclaimed singer/songwriters with nominations and recognition from the Juno Awards, the Canadian Folk Music Awards, the Hamilton Music Awards, the Independent Music Awards and the Polaris Prize. The pair’s extensive history working with one another (Luke has produced Melissa’s last three albums and they are both members of Sarah Mclachlan’s band) is quite evident as polished professionalism, unique chemistry and sheer talent characterize Whitehorse.

We are extremely excited about our ever growing network of fabulous musical talent and will be featuring a new artist with you for each month of 2012! Our first featured artist is singer, songwriter, Angie Grant.

Listening to Angie Grant’s debut CD, Don’t Worry Daddy, is a lot like meeting with Angie Grant, herself. Both are bold and elegant while remaining poignant and down-to-earth at the same time.

To the Oakville based singer, songwriter, session musician, and recording artist, music and performance are Life itself. In fact, it’s hard to imagine Angie without a guitar in her hands. She has a voice of silky smoothness with a dash of late-night-soul, and is equally comfortable laying down classic rock riffs as performing 1930’s jazz standards.

Her repertoire is rooted in a myriad of musical styles, genres, and eras, from Bessie Smith to James Brown, Joni Mitchell to Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. Don’t Worry Daddy stands as an exhilarating and ethereal amalgam of the varied styles she absorbed while performing in a full spectrum of underground scenes from across Canada, to New York and Japan.
